When you bring it back to us, we quote each job on the state of the code in front of us: work built on our modules is quick for us to navigate, and changes made by others take longer to understand before we can safely build on them, so those jobs can cost more. Either way you get the price before we start.

We work on them day in, day out — and those updates are issued to affected systems frequently, free of charge. When what we find is a defect, the same machinery ships the fix to everyone affected: the software equivalent of a manufacturer's recall. Either way it's us standing behind what we built, for as long as you run it.
The boundary is simple. Updates and fixes to our modules and platform are on us, centrally and free. Work on your system — changes you request, new features, server upkeep, framework upgrades on your hosting — is priced per job and quoted before we start.

- If I own the software, am I responsible for fixing it?
- It's your system, so like a car, looking after it is ultimately in your hands — you decide who works on it and when. But there's one obligation that stays ours: if the fault is in our code, we patch the Constellation modules centrally and ship the fix to every affected system, free of charge. For everything else, bring it to us (or any Laravel developer — it's your code) and pay for the job, quoted before we start.
- What do the free central updates cover?
- Updates and defect fixes to the Constellation modules and platform your system is built from. We work on improving those modules day in, day out, and because they're shared across every system we build, updates ship to everyone affected frequently and free of charge — like a manufacturer's recall, except most of the time it's an improvement rather than a fault. That's us standing behind what we built.
- Does that cover changes or features I ask for?
- No — that's a job, not a defect. Changes you request, new features, integrations, server upkeep and framework upgrades on your hosting are priced per job and quoted before we start. Bespoke code you or your own developer add on top is yours to look after — or we can quote for that too.
- Can I use my own developer instead of Stellify?
- Completely — the code is yours, and it's standard PHP on Laravel, so there's a large pool of affordable developers out there with no link to us at all. And if you bring it back to us afterwards, that's fine too: we quote each job on the state of the code in front of us. - Do I have to pay monthly?
- No. There is no monthly fee and no contract. You pay for work you ask for, job by job — like paying a plumber when the boiler breaks, not a standing charge for a boiler that is working fine.
- What happens between jobs?
- Nothing needs to. The system keeps running on your own hosting account, and if we find a defect in our modules meanwhile, the fix arrives free of charge whether you've booked a job or not. Ask for work when you want it; owe nothing when you don't.
- How is this different from a subscription SaaS product?
- Two things: ownership and cost. Ownership — rented software disappears the day you stop paying and you never owned it; here the app is yours (your code, your data, your hosting account), and you can revoke our access and take it in-house at any point. Cost — a SaaS subscription bills you every month, usually per user, and climbs as you grow. This is a one-off build, then work priced per job when you want it — no per-seat pricing and no bill that grows with your success. Over any real length of time it works out much cheaper.
- Is this hand-built agency work that will be fragile to maintain?
- No. Your system is assembled from production-grade modules that ship with their own automated test suites — proven, working code, not a template cobbled together and dressed up as an application. It is also standard PHP and Laravel, one of the world's most widely used web frameworks, so you are never locked to us: if you ever want someone else to look at it, there is a large pool of Laravel developers available at affordable rates.
